Free browser extension · Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox

See your net pay on every job ad, and every home

Job ads in the Netherlands show gross pay, and landlords ask for 3 to 4 times the rent. NL Salary Lens is a free browser extension that shows what you would actually take home each month, right next to the salary and compared with your current job, on LinkedIn, Indeed and Dutch job boards, and checks rents and mortgages on Pararius, Funda and Kamernet.

How it works

How to use it

  1. 1

    Browse as usual

Salaries are found automatically in the search results and on the job page itself, including ranges like "€55.000 – €70.000", monthly amounts and "€65K". Listings that load as you scroll are tagged too.

  2. 2

Turn on the 30% ruling if you have it

Click the toolbar icon and tick "I have the 30% ruling". Every tag is recalculated with the tax-free 30%, applying the 2026 salary norm.

  3. 3

Click a tag for the full picture

Each tag links to the take-home salary calculator with that salary filled in, where you can add holiday allowance, pension contributions and see every tax line.

Features

What else it does

Set it up once with your own situation, and every salary you see is already in your numbers.

25 job sites

LinkedIn, Indeed and Glassdoor plus Dutch job boards and agencies such as Werk.nl, Randstad, YoungCapital and Undutchables.

Hourly and daily amounts: from €40 an hour or €320 a day they are read as a ZZP rate (net after tax and Zvw, 1,320 billable hours a year), below that as an employee's wage for 40 hours a week.

Privacy first

Privacy

It reads salaries, not you. Only amounts and your settings are ever sent, to calculate net pay.

  • To calculate, only the amounts it finds (for example 54000), your settings (30% ruling, holiday allowance, pension %) and, if you set one, your current salary as a number are sent to nltaxcalculator.nl. On housing sites that is the asking price of a home for sale. Never the page, your profile or your browsing.
  • "Cover letter for this job" is the one exception, and only when you click it: the job ad (title, company, location, description) is opened on our cover letter page. It is sent on, with your CV, only when you press "Write my cover letter" there.
  • Saved jobs, your rent and your current salary stay on this device (never synced). No account, no ads, no tracking; anonymous usage counts are off unless you switch them on.
  • It only runs on the job sites and the three housing sites listed above. It reads text that contains a euro sign, the words around a salary that set its terms (such as "incl. holiday allowance"), and the job ad when you ask for a cover letter.

What the extension can access, and why

Your browser lists these when you install it. This is what each one is used for.

Read pages on the 25 job sites and 3 housing sites listed above
To find salaries, rents and asking prices (text with a € sign) and the terms written next to a salary, and add the tags. On your click of "Cover letter for this job", it also reads that one job ad. It never reads other sites, your messages or your profile.
Talk to nltaxcalculator.nl
To calculate net pay from the amounts it found, and to check which features are switched on and whether a newer version exists.
Storage
To remember your settings and saved jobs. Saved jobs, your rent and your current salary stay on this device; the other settings sync with your browser profile like any extension setting.

Install

How to install it

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera

  1. Click "Add to Chrome" above: the Chrome Web Store opens on NL Salary Lens.
  2. Click "Add to Chrome" there and confirm. It works the same in Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi (in Edge, allow extensions from other stores when asked).
  3. Click the puzzle icon in the toolbar and pin NL Salary Lens so the counter is always visible.
  4. Open a job search on LinkedIn or Indeed. Each salary gets a green "net/mo" tag after a second.
Without the Chrome Web Store (zip)
  1. Download the zip above and unzip it into a folder you will keep (for example Documents/nl-salary-lens).
  2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome (edge://extensions in Edge) and switch on Developer mode, top right.
  3. Click "Load unpacked" and choose the unzipped folder. NL Salary Lens appears in the list.
  4. Click the puzzle icon in the toolbar and pin NL Salary Lens so the counter is always visible.
  5. Open a job search on LinkedIn or Indeed. Each salary gets a green "net/mo" tag after a second.

Chrome shows a "Disable developer mode extensions" notice for any extension not installed from the Chrome Web Store. That is expected for a zip install; close it and the extension keeps working.

Download the extension (zip)

Firefox (version 121 or newer)

  1. Download the Firefox zip above.
  2. Open about:debugging, click "This Firefox", then "Load Temporary Add-on…" and choose the zip.
  3. Firefox removes temporary add-ons when it closes; repeat after a restart until NL Salary Lens is in the Firefox Add-ons store.
Firefox version (zip)

Updating

Installed from the Chrome Web Store, it updates itself. Your settings and saved jobs are kept.

FAQ

Questions

How accurate is the net figure?

It uses the 2026 Dutch income tax brackets, the general tax credit and the labour tax credit for a single income below state pension age, with no pension contribution and holiday allowance not added. Your real payslip will differ a little with pension, holiday allowance and benefits; click a tag to adjust those.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free. It is made by NL Tax Calculator, the same free site as the calculators.

How are the rent and mortgage figures worked out?

Rentals: most Dutch landlords ask a gross monthly income of 3 to 4 times the rent, so the tag shows that range; with your current salary set it also shows what is left of your net pay. Homes for sale: a 100% mortgage of the asking price over 30 years at an example rate (not a quote), with the tax refund on the interest for your current salary, and the transfer tax for a home you will live in. Click a tag for the mortgage calculator.

Why does a tag say "incl. holiday pay" or "+ 13th month"?

The extension read that in the job ad and used it for that tag only: no holiday allowance is added when the ad says it is included, 8% is added when it comes on top, and a 13th month adds one month a year. Part-time hours are only noted, because many ads state the full-time salary.

Why does a salary have no tag?

It is below €1,000 a month, a ZZP rate while "Show ZZP rates" is off, or written in a way it cannot read (for example only in an image). Scroll a little or reload the page if a job site loaded slowly.

Does it work in Firefox or Safari?

Firefox: yes (version 121 or newer), with the Firefox zip; until it is in the Firefox store, load it at about:debugging → This Firefox → Load Temporary Add-on. Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi use the main zip. Safari: not yet.

How do I remove it?

Open chrome://extensions (edge://extensions in Edge) and click Remove on NL Salary Lens. Its settings and saved jobs are deleted with it.

Is my data sold or shared?

No. The extension has no ads and no trackers, and NL Tax Calculator does not sell data. What is sent, and when, is listed under Privacy above.

I installed the zip version earlier. What now?

Install it from the Chrome Web Store, then remove the old copy in chrome://extensions (the one without a store link). The store version updates itself. Settings you made in the zip version are not carried over.

Does it work in Edge, Brave or Opera?

Yes. Chromium browsers install it from the Chrome Web Store too; Edge asks once to allow extensions from other stores.
