Open a step for the sum with your figures, what the step does, and what the Dutch terms mean.
What this step does: The 30% ruling lasts at most 60 months from your start date. Earlier stays or work in the Netherlands can shorten it.
At most 60 months, minus every month you lived or worked in the Netherlands in the 25 years before it started.
Can my employer extend the ruling past 5 years?
No. Since the 2019 reform, 5 years (60 months) is a hard maximum regardless of employer changes or renewed applications.
What if my employer applied more than 4 months after I started working?
Backdating is only possible within 4 months of your first working day. Applying later means the ruling only takes effect from the actual application date, not your start date - enter that later date here as your "ruling start date".
Does switching employers reset my 5-year window?
No. A new employer means a new application, but the new ruling can only run until the same end date as the original one - it never restarts the clock.

The 30% ruling runs for a maximum of 60 months from its effective start date, reduced by any prior period living or working in the Netherlands within the 25 years before that date. This tool only tracks the expiry date - it does not check eligibility or apply the salary cap introduced in 2024, which affects how much of your salary the 30% actually applies to, not the ruling duration itself.
